New $60 Million Dollar Sales Tax
The Catoosa county government is asking for another tax increase. This 1% sales tax earmarked for transportation projects is being put forward with no set project list. If approved, this new tax will increase sales tax rate from 7% to 8%.
The Catoosa county government has refused to provide any indication as to how the money will actually be spent (or wasted). How do they know they NEED $60 million dollars when they have no plan for specific projects?
A Ft. Oglethorpe elected official has been posting on facebook about how TSPLOST money will help complete green space projects. Green Space is not a transportation issue and should be handled within the current city and county budgets.
It is no surprise that our government wants more money to waste. Over the past 7 years we have seen numerous tax increases such as SPLOST, ESPLOST, repeated property tax increases, and a more recent property value assessment tax hike!
We do not have a revenue problem; what we do have is an out of control spending problem.
Please help us get the word out about this referendum, so we can mobilize hard-working citizens to beat back yet another tax increase.
We need your help to fund signs and ads so we can win on March 19th. Early voting starts February 25th.

It is wrong to have this tax voted on in a March ballot with extremely low turnout.
Votes on taxes should be on the November ballot when most people vote.
